As I was saying yesterday I'm in the process of getting Gandalf ready for her launch and sail home. Part of this preparation included replacing some worn out blocks. I purchased some Ronstan Series 40 blocks (see at right). One is a RF40100 single block, universal and the other is a RF40111 single block, becket, universal head. The block stats are as follows:
RF40100
- Rope: 10mm, 7/16"
- MWL: 350kg, 772lb
- BL: 1000kg, 2205lb
- Weight: 70g, 2.5oz
RF40111
- Rope: 10mm, 7/16"
- MWL: 400kg, 882lb
- BL: 1000kg, 2205lb
- Weight: 80g, 2.8oz
This Friday I'll be putting them in and seeing how they work. I didn't have any information on the previous blocks but the people at West Marine assured me that these should do the trick as well as or if not better than the current ones. We'll see.
