Next Friday evening Gandalf will be launched and the following weekend after that Jenny and I will sail her home to Cape Porpoise. In preparations for her launch, I went up this past weekend.
In between the rain I managed to put some new bottom paint on (see picture below). I also put in a make shift automatic bilge pump in the event she takes on water while she sits on anchor for a week.
Since the plan is that we sail her for the summer and do the major refitting over the fall and spring, I decided to replace a couple of blocks on the mast. The spinnaker block (see images below) was damaged and the other two seemed that they were ready to retire.
The spinnaker block, located on the top left started to disintegrate (see enlarged view below).
After this coming weekend I'll post some pictures of the launch and block repairs.
